2017 Women's AmeriCup Day 3 Report

Two teams marked their first win of the tournament, and for two more it was business as usual as the 2017 AmeriCup Women starts to take shape.

Colombia were once leading by as much as 28, but a second-half surge from Virgin Islands ate into that deficit. Colombia’s shooters helped the team hang on to their lead, eventually winning 70-63.

Despite the best defensive efforts of Mexico, Canada led from the start with all but one of their players making the score sheet. Solid play from all spots on the court saw Canada stay perfect, dispatching Mexico 65-39.

After a first quarter that went Paraguay’s way, consistent play in the paint and from three-point territory from Puerto Rico saw them pull away. Puerto Rico were solid but unspectacular as they secured their first win of the championship.

Venezuela had an early lead, and Yosimar Corrales had 19 points in total at the end of the contest, but before too long they would be dominated by Argentina, whose consistency and improved shooting from three-point territory built them an ever more unassailable lead.
